The Vladivostok International Regatta is a large-scale rowing competition held for the first time on 9 September 2022 as part of the official sports programme of the Eastern Economic Forum. The regatta brought together not only athletes and sports enthusiasts from Primorye but also supporters from other regions and countries, as the city was bustling with tourists, businesspeople and entrepreneurs during the business forum.
The selection of Novik Bay as the regatta venue was no coincidence. It's a natural 12-kilometre rowing channel, shielded by volcanic hills from all sides. A sports centre is also located here, equipped with a convenient infrastructure for all types of rowing, including spacious boathouses for boat storage, piers and modern equipment.
Besides the open water disciplines, the organisers also conducted an indoor rowing competition last autumn. This discipline requires using specialised training machines. The competition took place at the GTO Arena of Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation. The competition also included an impromptu 200-metre indoor rowing race with the participation of Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, Pavel Volkov, State Secretary, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Zhan Kuznetsov, Minister of Sport of the Primorsky Territory, Georgy Bryusov, Director of the Centre of Sports Preparation for Russian national teams of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, Aleksey Svirin, President of the Russian Rowing Federation, sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev and other organisers and guests of the event.
The regatta is set to take place for the second time in 2023. This year's festival will once again feature rowing competitions with Russian and foreign athletes, as well as an exciting cultural and gastronomic programme. The Novik Bay waterfront will feature a promenade for strolling, land-art areas, a playground and recreational and educational areas. Beyond the races, visitors can enjoy a fashion show, buy branded apparel and souvenirs, participate in art workshops and taste dishes prepared by chefs.
The primary goal of the Vladivostok International Regatta is to bring together sports enthusiasts and those who aspire to incorporate sports into their lives, helping them find a passion and connect with like-minded people.
